September 4, 2019

On Wednesday September 4th at 1:40pm East Brandywine Fire Company along with Ambulance 144 (Westwood) were dispatched to Manor Rd & E Reeceville Rd for the auto accident. Initial reports were of a three-vehicle accident with one to be checked. Immediately after the initial dispatch the 911 Center advised they were getting reports of one unconscious. Ambulance 144 requested an additional ambulance and medic to be dispatched at that time. This added Ambulance 41 (Coatesville) and Medic 93 (Brandywine Hospital) to the call.

Deputy 49 made the response, and shortly after units were given an update that three juveniles were involved, and one was reported unconscious.

Deputy 49 arrived first and reported the call was located south of the intersection placing it in Wagontown Fire Companies local. At that time Station 35 was added to the call as well while Deputy 49 began to access the injuries. Immediately upon making patient contact Deputy 49 requested a helicopter be placed on standby for a pediatric patient with severe trauma and requested another ambulance. JeffStat 3 which is stationed at Brandywine Hospital was notified and the third ambulance was dispatched from 44 (Westwood).

Once the medics from 93 arrived on scene it was determined they would indeed be flying the patient to a pediatric trauma center. Ambulance 144 and Medic 93 transported the pediatric patient to the LZ at Brandywine Hospital. Several other patients were transported by the other EMS units on scene. Station 49 responded with Deputy 49, Engine 49-1 and 49-2, Utility 49 and QRS 49.

Chief 35 arrived and took over command of the incident and had fire police from 35 shutdown the roadway on both sides. Crews from 35 and 49 then began to clean up the incident and crews from 49 were made available from the scene.

We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this accident and wish everyone a quick recovery.
