On Thursday August 16th, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to an odor investigation at Village Hardware on Horseshoe Pike.
While enroute the County notified Assistant 49 A that they were changing the location of the call to the building next to the Hardware store and changing its nature to a smoke investigation.
Upon arrival of Chief 49, smoke and fire were visible through a basement door. Chief 49 asked for the working fire dispatch.
Upon making entry it was noted that the fire was located between two basement doors and involved wood, plastic, and insulation.
The fire was quickly put under control, and crews ventilated the building
