On Wednesday evening September 24th, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers put their ropes and rigging skills learned over the last month to the test by participating in a drill.

The scenario volunteers faced was a tractor overturned over an embankment in a remote location. Additionally the difficulty level was increased by having the apparatus stage about a quarter mile away from the scene. This required all equipment / personnel to be transported by ATV and on foot.

Crews worked over the course of two hours to lower EMS personnel to the patient to assess the nature of the patients injuries. They then proceeded to build two different lowering and hoisting systems get additional personnel and equipment to the patient for packaging and removal.

Overall the drill was a success and many valuble lessons were learned.
