September 28, 2014

Saturday, September 28th, proved to be a busy day for the volunteers of East Brandywine Fire Company. The Company ended up responding to 8 Fire / EMS emergencies and participated in 2 special assignments.

The notable calls included a response to the Devereux School assisting the Glen Moore Fire Company for an automatic fire alarm that was upgraded to smoke in the building. After searching the building it was determined that the source of the smoke was a washing machine.

The Company was also dispatched later in the evening for an auto-accident on Dowlin Forge Road with reported entrapment. Glen Moore Fire Company and the Downingtown Fire Department were also due on the box. Upon arrival of Deputy 45 it was determined that there was no entrapment, however there was one patient down in the roadway.

In regards to the special assignments, Ladder 49 assisted the Honey Brook Fire Company, lay one of their members FF Jake Long, to rest. FF Long lost his life this past week in a tragic auto accident. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the Honey Brook Fire Company and FF Long's family, as well as FF Stoltzfus family who was also killed in the crash.

Engine 49-5 traveled to Thorndale Fire Company in order to help them celebrate their 75th Anniversary. Chief John Cordisco and President Mick Arnold led a ceremony which honored Thorndale's past. The Officers and Members of East Brandywine Fire Company wish Thorndale Fire Company the very best as they move toward the future.

The Officers would like to thank all of the volunteers who gave up a portion of their weekend to continue to protect the Community.
