Shortly after midnight on Sunday, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were dispatched to a reported mobile home fire on Mohawk Lane in West Brandywine Township.
Chief 49 (Edwards) responded shortly after dispatch and was advised by Chester County Emergency Communications Center that the homeowner awoke to flames on the outside of their house. Additionally it was noted that the homeowner was attempting to extinguish the fire.
Upon the arrival of multiple Companies, it was noted that the bulk of the fire had been extinguished and fire personnel focused on checking for extension and overhaul. The situation was placed under control shortly after arrival and turned over to the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office for investigation into origin and cause.
Around 2:30am the Company was dispatched to another reported house fire in the 1400 block of Horseshoe Pike also in West Brandywine Township.
Assistant 49 (D'Amico) arrived on location within minutes of the dispatch and reported a single story ranch with an interior smoke condition. After investigation it was determined that an oil burner had malfunctioned causing the problem. One resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation and treated on the scene. Additionally the American Red Cross was also activated to assist with relocating the displaced resident.
