December 24, 2017

On Friday December 23rd East Brandywine Fire Company took the final step to improve its operational readiness and service delivery to the Community.

The Officers and Members of the Company are pleased to announce that after a year of planning, research, and design an order has been placed for a new Pierce Engine and Ladder truck.

The trucks are slated for a delivery in late 2018 and will be placed in service in 2019.

Chief John Edwards said “I am incredibly proud of not only the members of the Apparatus Committee but also the Company as a whole, this exciting opportunity was only able to be realized after years of hard work”. Edwards added “as an Organization we had a strategic vision and worked collaboratively with the Municipalities and the Community to achieve it”.

Over the course of the last year a ten-person committee designed and developed the specifications for the trucks after a comprehensive evaluation of our first run district and reviewing countless apparatus.

Committee Co-Chair Bob Zynn said, “there are a lot of outstanding trucks operating in the Region, our goal was to partner with those Companies and incorporate key design features they found successful”.

Those Departments and Companies included:

Engine Review

Harrisburg Fire Department - Wagon 4
Chester Fire Department - Engine 82
Longwood Fire Company - Engine 25-1
Lionville Fire Company - Engine 47-2
Bart Township Fire Company - Engine 51-2

Ladder Review

West Grove Fire Company – Ladder 22
Oxon Hill Prince George County – Ladder 821
