On June 28th, the East Brandywine Fire Company (EBFC) was dispatched to the unit block of Short Drive in East Fallowfield to assist the Westwood Fire Company and mutual aid on a working house fire. Units from Westwood arrived to find a working fire with possible entrapment, prompting a second alarm. EBFC was added as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and responded with 12 volunteers. Upon arrival, EBFC crews stood by as the RIT until being stood down, then assisted with vertical ventilation and overhaul. While Ladder 49 was at the fire, crews back at the station responded to an odor investigation inside with Engine 49-2 in our first due local. The crews cleared that call quickly and then remained on station, staffing until the Ladder returned.
