On Saturday evening, April 19th at 5:54 PM, the East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched as part of the mutual aid assignment to assist the Wagontown Fire Company with a reported house fire on the unit block of Main Lin Drive in West Brandywine Township.

Initial reports indicated a grease fire on a stove with the occupants actively evacuating the residence.

East Brandywine responded with 17 volunteers aboard Chief 49, Deputy 49, Battalion 49, Engine 49-2, Ladder 49, and Utility 49. Battalion 49 arrived first and reported a two-story single-family dwelling with nothing showing from the exterior. Chief 49 arrived shortly after and established Main Lin Command.

Engine 76 arrived and took the first-due engine assignment, followed by East Brandywine’s Engine 49-2, which secured the hydrant next to the residence. Ladder 49 nosed into the driveway for access.

Crews from Engine 76 confirmed the fire was out but reported a smoke condition inside the residence. Ladder 49’s crew placed a ventilation fan in service at the front door and assisted with clearing the smoke by opening windows throughout the home.

The incident was quickly brought under control and all units were made available a short time later.
