On Saturday March 22nd the East Brandywine Fire Company Training Division made the most of the nice weather and built the first of their roof training props.
The group, led be Training Officer Chris Keen and Captain Vince D'Amico spent a good part of the morning building the prop that will be used for roof ventilation simulations.
The design was conceived by Training Officer Keen and will allow for multiple simulations by easily sliding sheets of plywood in and out. Additionally burn barrels will be placed underneath once the project is completed.
Special thanks goes out to Firefighter J.D. Keen for obtaining the majority of the materials. Additionally the Line Officers would like to thank Firefighter Butch Collins, Engineer Corey Mortzfield, and Firefighter Rich Savastana for their assistance with the project.
The Training Divisions next project is a flat roof prop. Check back in the near future as the Training Division will also be adding a concrete training pad site to enhance East Brandywine's Training Program. |
