Over the past few months the Members and Officers of East Brandywine Fire Company have slowly been converting Engine 49-1 over to a full Rescue truck. The company already had most of the equipment needed but recently added the Res-Q-Jack Apex Struts to the truck as well.

Now that we have Engine 49-2 and Engine 49-5 the Officers and Members felt that Engine 49-1 would better serve the community as a Rescue Truck that was fully equipped for vehicle extrications. The members have spent several weeks moving equipment around on the truck to make it easier to get to and to add room for some of the newer rescue equipment.

Once everything was all set up the way we wanted it the company had the vehicle re-lettered to Rescue 49 and the truck has now been placed in service with the county as such. We felt that converting a piece of apparatus we already owned to a Rescue would be better for everyone than buying a brand new Rescue.
