On Thursday evening 6/22/2023 at 7:51 East Brandywine volunteers were dispatched to assist Station 48 on a reported house fire on Marshall Rd. Chief 48 arrived with smoke showing from the eaves and requested the working fire dispatch.
Engine 49-5, Ladder 49, Engine 49-2 and QRS 49 made the response with 21 volunteers. Upon arrival of EBFC members crews stretched a back-up line and placed ground ladders around the building.
Luckily the fire was placed under control quickly and the Ladder crew placed fans in service to clear the smoke from the residence. Crews from EBFC were on scene for approximately 30 minutes before clearing the scene.
Fire training continued Wednesday evening with a live fire drill at the station training pad.
Engine 49-2 arrived to find a fully involved car fire. The engine crew deployed a single attack line and extinguished the fire. Crews rotated through multiple evolutions to give our new members time to practice.
29 volunteers participated in the drill. Interested in serving your community as a volunteer firefighter? Stop down on Wednesday nights to learn more.
