East Brandywine Fire Company hosts a yearly tradition of Breakfast with Santa Claus. Unfortunately, due to covid and then a fire station renovation the event was not held for the last three years. During that time the house that Santa uses was neatly packed away in storage, however since the house is 60 years old it didn’t fare well packed away for three years and needed some much-needed help. What was Santa and East Brandywine going to do?
Nothing short of a Christmas miracle was about to happen. EBFC reached out to Mrs. Tanya Beaver, the 3-D Art Teacher at Downingtown Middle School. Mrs. Beaver lept into action with the help of her art students; Akul Raina, Henry Lewis, Jordan Wood, Valentina Solis-Montero, and Charlie Ader. A Santa house transformation was about to take place! With the help of retired DHS Art Teacher Annette Lupoli, the rough sketches and paint planning took on a new life.
As the students and teachers volunteered their time after school and on weekends. The dream of holding breakfast with Santa was becoming a reality! Mrs. Beaver said, “The kids volunteering to paint Santa’s house was a great opportunity for them to give back to the community”. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit as all the pieces fell into place. The project was a complete success. On Saturday December 9th East Brandywine Fire Company hosted breakfast with Santa to the tune of 300 guests split over two seatings. The compliments and admiration for Santa’s house poured out from our guests young and old. Santa and Mrs. Claus could not have been happier with their new home. Thanks to DMS Art Students and Mrs. Beaver, EBFC was able to share a 2023 Christmas Miracle. |
