May 16, 2024

On May 16th, members of the EBFC handled back-to-back incidents during the early evening hours.

At 7:19 PM, the company was dispatched to Manor Rd & Hibernia Rd for a motorcycle accident. Rescue 49, QRS 49, Utility 49, and Battalion 49 responded to the scene. EMS from Westwood arrived and assessed the rider, who fortunately did not sustain any serious injuries. Crews from 49 remained on site, keeping the road closed until Fling's Towing Inc. arrived to remove the motorcycle.

While some crew members were still on Manor Rd, a second call came in regarding an elevator rescue at Hopewell United Methodist Church, where multiple people were reported to be stuck in the elevator. Rescue 49, Ladder 49, Engine 49-2, and QRS 49 responded to this call. They promptly opened the elevator doors and safely removed all six occupants, who were uninjured.
