Over the course of 4 days between July 16th and July 19th, our dedicated volunteers responded to approximately 61 emergencies due to the severe storms that swept through our area on the 16th and 17th.
Our crews handled a multitude of calls ranging from wires down, pole fires, and trees down to CO alarms and house fires. Throughout these challenging 4 days, over 30 volunteers were on call, working tirelessly at all hours of the day and night. Many of our volunteers were also dealing with power outages and other issues at their own homes.
During the long-term power outage, our Executive Committee decided to open the Witmer Conference Center on the second floor of the firehouse as a cooling and charging center for the community. The Conference Center remained open to the public for several days until power was restored to the area.
We are incredibly proud of and grateful for our volunteers’ unwavering commitment to our community. Thank you for your dedication and service! |
