On Friday morning at approximately 9:00 AM, the East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 6 (West Whiteland Fire Company) for a reported dwelling fire on Bala Terrace West in West Whiteland Township.
Initial reports indicated a fire in a second-floor bedroom. Shortly after dispatch, local police and West Whiteland units arrived on scene to find smoke showing and fire visible from the second floor "C" side of the structure. A Working Fire Dispatch was immediately requested due to the visible fire conditions.
As Station 6 crews began stretching hoselines into the home, Engine 49-2 from East Brandywine arrived and was assigned to the roof for ventilation operations. During the incident, crews discovered fire extension into both neighboring homes, prompting the deployment of several additional handlines to control the spread.
Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of all responding companies, the fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. Sadly, one dog perished in the fire, but we are grateful to report that no other injuries were sustained.
Our thoughts are with the affected families during this difficult time.
Excellent work by all personnel involved for a fast and efficient response.
