đźš’ BUSY TWO DAYS FOR COMPANY 49
East Brandywine Fire Company has handled 10 calls for service over the past two days, including seven QRS calls and three fire-related responses involving a chimney fire, house fire, and motor vehicle accident.
On Friday evening at 7:51 PM, the Company was dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company with a reported chimney fire. Ladder 49 and Engine 49-1 made the response and assisted Westwood crews on scene.
Several hours later, at 3:35 AM, the Company was dispatched again to assist Westwood Fire Company, this time for a reported house fire on Nichols Avenue in Valley Township. Ladder 49 and Rescue 49 responded but were recalled while en route.
This afternoon at 5:28 PM, crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of Horseshoe Pike, in front of the gas station, for a reported motor vehicle accident.
Rescue 49, Utility 49-1, and 49-50 responded and arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with one vehicle blocking traffic and sustaining significant front-end damage. Fortunately, all occupants were able to exit their vehicles, and no injuries were reported.
The crew from Rescue 49 applied oil dry to fluids leaking onto the roadway and was able to move the damaged vehicle out of the travel lanes. Utility 49-1 temporarily blocked westbound traffic while crews operated. The roadway was reopened once the hazard was cleared.

🍂 A Few Seasonal Safety Reminders
As the weather begins to change, we would like to remind everyone who has a fireplace or chimney to have it professionally inspected and cleaned before the heating season.
Also, please use extra caution while driving this time of year. Fallen leaves—especially when wet—can make roadways extremely slippery and can also cover pavement markings and other roadway hazards.
Slow down, leave extra stopping distance, and stay safe this fall.
